Hello there

I'm not really a joiner but what the flock . What is there to say and why would you listen?

Here's a poem I wrote a couple of years ago and found again in the piles of files I keep just in case.

Lovely Day

It was sunny at the beach that day
Wind blew for the kites to play
A dance the clouds would delight
The sun smiled through shining bright
We lay caressed by gold sand
Salty water trickled off my hand
A castle adorned by shells and sticks
Made with buckets and fingertips
The sounds of waves a gentle sigh
The ice cream lick the seagulls cry
How I loved the beach that day
A memory sealed and put away

Touchy feely, yes. Do I care ? no.

T'is all, for now.

The Economy and the Media

What is it with the press ? Why the constant barrage of negative spin ? I believe this constant bombardment of comparisons to the bad old days, falling house prices and job losses are actually adding to the depressive state we're in now. I don't say they're the cause (we know most of it's down to a bunch of bankers and bad policies) but I do say they add fuel to the fire. The more you read the more depressed you feel, it's as if the media have created this gigantic cloud looming over us and they just keep raining down negative news so much so that even subconsciously its got to affect you.

OR AM I WRONG ?

Global Warming ?

Everyone seems to be up in arms. The world is doomed and it's all down to us, from the first camp fires to the carbon emissions from our cars we're killing the world ! I have to be honest I don't know all the facts but its strikes me as odd. The world has been around and going through warming and cooling cycles since before man, so my question is:- are we really as responsible as the government and the strong environmental lobbyists would have us believe ?

The facts I've heard or read(could be spin but sound logical), here's a couple:

Cows/livestock and dead rotting fish are responsible for methane and other gases in far greater and more harmful amounts than anything humans produce.

Man is responsible for 0.02%(no I haven't checked but it's insignificant and that's my point) of harmful ozone pollution.

The government have realised that the environment is a great way to tax us for the things we already have and would struggle without.

The Earth has been around for millions of years (sorry, it's just not 6000 as some faiths would have us believe) and mans records of climate change amount to grain of sand on the beach of time, so how could we possibly know ? The 'experts' in government can't even predict a recession even though they have all the information in front of them or learn from the past.

It's what I think, I'm not trying to be controversial I genuinely have formed these opinions from years of watching and listening. Let me know if you share my thoughts or Am I Wrong ?

Religion, the route of all evil ?

I feel nervous just typing this but I guess I might as well tackle this head on...

I don't believe the world was created by an omnipresent, omniscient or omnipotent 'God', if you like. I have pondered this all my life and feel that not only is religion geographically based but force fed to us at the most vunerable age and trusting times of our lives, or am I wrong ?

Nanny society...but it's for your own good....?

This is my first post so lets not mess around. My intentions are clear, I love a good debate and I have strong opinions but I will always try to be open minded.

I wanted to start a blog to get rid of some of my life baggage, well that's true but it's a little more than that. As I started writing it became clear that it could be so much more cathartic than that. A lot of these subjects have been knocking around my cranium for a long time, so lets get started.....

Was George Orwell right...

'Big Brother is watching you ?'

...and are his intentions honourable ?

We live in a CCTV, monitor your mobile phone, collect your data world and it just keeps getting worse, or is it purely for our own good ?

Where will it all lead ? I think it's gone too far and I'm sick of being told what to do and how to do it, or am I wrong ?

What do you think, can you offer some words of comfort or are you as concerned as I am ?
